Northern Design Works Architectural Visualization, Renderings, & Lighting Studies

Northern Design Works offers architectural visualization services to architects, designers, and developers. The latest in computer technology is used to produce simple lighting or massing studies or detailed photo-realistic renderings. The work is produced by a practicing architect with both an understanding of the tools needed to produce your graphics and an understanding of the architectural design process. Anything from a written description to detailed CAD drawings can be used as a starting point to produce the visualization you need.

Interior Renderings

Interior renderings are commonly used, from diagrammatic models to explain a space or building section, to fully detailed photo-realistic renderings of a space. Options include static renderings, panoramic views (that can be rotated 360° on the computer), and animated walk throughs.

Exterior Renderings

Exterior renderings are an excellent way to show clients or potential tenants a projects appearance. Exterior renderings can also be produced as still images or animated fly bys.

Photomontage

Photomontage allows you to include a rendering of a proposed project in photos of an existing site or building. This is a useful way to show how a proposed project fits into its context or how a proposed addition will relate to an existing building.

Lighting Studies

Using photometric files that represent actual light fixtures, a rendering can be prepared using radiosity. This is a simulation of the interplay of light between the various surfaces in a model. This can produce both a useful visualization of the appearance of the lighting in a space, and quantitative estimates of the light levels throughout the model. This technique works with both artificial lighting and daylight and is particularly useful in spaces that rely on indirect lighting.
